How to Make a Fandub

Fandubs are similar to fansubs, but the major difference is that instead of adding subtitles, you change the language track. This is done occasionally in anime, or as a form of satire on YouTube. Fandubs are called fandubs because they are done unofficially and often in violation of copyright.

Steps

  1. Find the show or clip that you want to Fandub.
  2. Translate the material from the language that the clip is from into your own language. If you can't understand the language, find someone who will translate for you, whether a friend or someone online, if they're a fan of the show they'd probably love to do it! If you must use an online translator, try to rewrite the generated sentences so they make sense, but many things will be lost in translation this way.
  3. Identify the voices that you will need done. For example, if there are two male voices and three female voices, you will need five different voices.
  4. Find volunteers to say those lines for the appropriate characters.
  5. Record those lines. You can use several pieces of software like Sound Recorder that is pre-installed on Windows. Make sure each line is saved as its own unique file.
  6. Open video editing software.
  7. Import the video clip that you want to dub into the project space.
  8. Import your audio clips into the project space.
  9. Put the video clip on the timeline.
  10. Preview the video on the timeline.Every time there is a new line, splice the related audio track on the timeline.
  11. Take an audio clip for a line and match with the related spliced line on your timeline.Put it on the second audio track timeline.
  12. Check to make sure that the clips are the same length. If they do not, make a note of that so you can get the line to be recorded again to match better.
  13. When the video and audio track line up with the version you recorded, delete the other language original track.
  14. Repeat until all audio clips have been changed.
  15. Compile your video.

To dub anime properly, you want to get your hand on original OST of the anime that you are going to dub. Then start adding your own sound effects little by little.
